Beer produced by Guinness Ltd., IE Appearance: A clear ruby ale with a compact off-white head leaving some lacing, but small curtains. (3.5) Aroma: Smelling weak of bread, nuts, some grass and pears. (3) Taste: A sweet bread start, some red apples and walnuts. (3) Palate: Medium high carbonation, rather refreshing texture, a small body and a light dry finish. (4) Overall: A light beer, and a bit boring. (3) Nitro-tap at the Dubliner, Stockholm |
Reibert Arbring2010-07-13 | Guinness Kilkenny Irish Cream AleIrish Red Ale | 4.3%3.23 |
Beer produced by Guinness Ltd., IE Appearance: The beer is clear dark brownish amber, big bubbles, a rather small head, and some lacing left on the glass. (3.5) Aroma: The smell is sweet malty, brown bread somewhat nutty. (4) Taste: We have an upfront, brown sugar, sweetness, then taste of dark bread some sour notes, and a rather metallic bitterness at the end. (3) Palate: Rather high carbonation, medium light body, a bit fizzy, and a sharp dryness. (3) Overall: I'm not a fan of Irish Red, and Kilkenny does not really improve that view. (3) Bottle |
Reibert Arbring2010-03-10 | Guinness DraughtIrish Dry Stout | 4.2%3.23 |
Beer produced by Guinness Ltd., IE Appearance: A black beer, with a hint of brown, and a beige creamy nice head. Not much lacing though, mostly due to the slow settling. (4.5) Aroma: A smell of roasted malt, some coffee beans, but also some sweetness and fruitiness (raspberry and plums). (3.5) Taste: The taste has roasted notes, some coffee and chocolate, a bitter finish that stays a while. (3) Palate: Low carbonation, a watery feeling, combined with a dry aftertaste. (3.5) Overall: This is the classic Guinness, and the draught system works fairly well. However there are far better stouts. (3) bottle |
Reibert Arbring2010-03-04 | Guinness Extra StoutIrish Dry Stout | 5.0%3.68 |
Beer produced by Guinness Ltd., IE Appearance: The beer pours dark brown, almost black, a brown heavy head that recedes slowly. Leaves lots of lacing. (4.5) Aroma: The smell is rather weak, roasted tones, sweet rather much caramel malt, almost dusty, like an old dark closet. (3) Taste: The taste is partly sour, vinegar, very roasted - coffee aromas. A bitterness that lingers for a while. (4) Palate: Medium carbonated, a bit watery for starters, but then finish of in a nice dry feeling. (3.5) Overall: Well, it's a Guinness, and as such a classic and reliable brew - but there are far better and interesting stouts. (3.5) bottle |
