Beer produced by Brasserie de Rochefort, BE Appearance: The beer is brown, dark brown, a bit hazy, has a tan head that leaves some lacing. Some curtains. (4) Aroma: The smell is sweet mature fruits - dates, figs, some dark bread crust, vinous notes, Madeira- (4) Taste: The taste is very sweet, caramelized sugar, dried fruits, plums, rather vinous, sherry, Madeira, malty tones, dark bread crust, then some bitter notes, cherry seeds, bitter almond. (4.5) Palate: The carbonation is medium, small bubbles, the body is hugh, a soft and oily texture, a warm dry finish. (4.5) Overall: A very good trappist, but maybe the 8 version is a bit more balanced, the alcohol and sweetness is dominating here. (4.5) Bottle 330 ml |

Beer produced by Brasserie de Rochefort, BE Appearance: The beer is rather dark brown, a bit clouded, a large head that settles slowly, unequal sized bubbles leaving little lacing but much curtains. (4) Aroma: The smell is definitely earthy, concrete, dust, sour milk and yeast. (4) Taste: The taste starts sweet, sugar, biscuits, fruit aromas, peaches, pears and some anisette. (4.5) Palate: Much carbonation, small lively bubbles, a good body, slightly alcoholic. (3.5) Overall: Not bad, but a bit young and lively, I'd go with it's elder brothers. (4) bottle |
