Apperance: The beer is clouded orange amber, has a high thick off-white head leaving good lacing but less curtains. (4.5) Aroma: The smell is sweet and fruity, brown sugar, toffee, grape-fruit and black currant leaves. Pine needles and resin. Lots of action for the nose, (4.5) Taste: The taste starts slightly sweet, brown bread, a sorbet of grapes, black currant and oranges, then grape-fruit peels and crushed seeds. (4.5) Palate: A light carbonation, a sticky but smooth texture, a huge body and a long dry finish. (4) Overall: Lots of action in this, loads of fruits, and a solid bitterness, to be enjoyed in small portions. The bottle was just as good as, or even better than the cask. Marked with 8.5% ABV btw.
